Flavor Profile
Nicaraguan Gold delivers a smooth, medium-dark cup with low acidity and a satisfying, round body. Chocolatey richness anchors this coffee, while subtle tropical fruit and earthy notes add depth. Its clean finish and steady sweetness make it an easy favorite for everyday drinking.
Why Choose This Coffee?
This coffee begins with the people who grow it. Produced by the El Porvenir Cooperative—a resilient community of smallholder farmers in the mountains near León, Nicaragua—this coffee supports organic, bird-friendly, and sustainable farming practices. These families, once divided by civil conflict, now work together to create ecologically sound livelihoods. By choosing this coffee, you help support dignified work, biodiversity, and community-led development.
More Details
El Porvenir, meaning “The Future,” is home to around 300 people who collectively own the land they farm and live on. Nestled in a biologically diverse region, their coffee is grown under shade, without agrochemicals, and harvested by hand. Sun-dried on patios and carefully sorted, these beans reflect the cooperative’s deep care and commitment.
Beyond the cup, El Porvenir’s story is one of perseverance. The community faces challenges such as limited access to clean water, electricity, internet, and transportation—with just one tractor serving both families and the harvest. Despite these hardships, they continue replanting organic coffee, protecting native forest, and investing in infrastructure and education with support from partners like Building New Hope.
