Flavor Profile
Papua New Guinea Gold opens with the crisp sweetness of red apple and the bright zest of orange, rounded by rich notes of dark chocolate. The cup is vibrant yet smooth, offering a silky mouthfeel, gentle acidity, and a balanced, lingering finish.
Why Choose This Coffee?
Sourced from 260 dedicated smallholder farmers of the Kamano tribal group, Papua New Guinea Gold captures the essence of expert craftsmanship and traditional methods. This coffee is perfect for those who appreciate complex, sweet, and fruit-toned profiles that remain easy-drinking and versatile across brew styles.
More Details
Cultivated in the fertile highlands southwest of Kainantu, each lot comes from nutrient-rich black and red loam soils, shaded naturally by casuarina and albizia trees. The average farm is just 1.4 hectares, integrating coffee alongside traditional crops like sweet potato and taro for sustainable livelihoods.
The farmers, part of the Timuza Coffee Cooperative, meticulously hand-pick ripe cherries between April and September. Processing is traditional and intensive: manual pulping, fermentation in bilum bags, careful washing, and full sun-drying on patios. This labor-intensive care helped Timuza earn first place in the 2016 Papua New Guinea National Cupping Competition.
Varietals include Arusha, Mundo Novo, and Typica—producing a clean, fully washed cup that balances sweetness, fruitiness, and a chocolaty backbone.
