Sumatran Gold is produced in Indonesia’s North Sumatra province, one of the island’s most significant coffee-growing regions by volume. Coffee here is often grown on small, family-owned farms where traditional methods are still the norm. Due to frequent rains during the harvest season, farmers employ a unique wet-hulling method (locally called giling basah). In this process, beans are pulped, partially dried, hulled at higher moisture content, and then dried further, creating the coffee's trademark earthy character and deep body.
