More Details

The current formulation features Colombian coffee from the area of Pereira in Risaralda, part of Colombia's renowned coffee-growing region. Coffee is central to the rural economy there, providing income and employment for farming families, producers, and seasonal workers.

Risaralda has faced extraordinary challenges in 2026. A major August earthquake caused widespread damage to rural homes, crops, agricultural production, and infrastructure throughout the department. More than 1,000 rural impacts were documented, including hundreds of homes that suffered severe or total damage. Continuing to purchase coffee from this region helps sustain demand for an agricultural product on which many rural families depend as communities recover.

Parts of Risaralda have also experienced renewed armed conflict and instability. Colombian authorities have reported activity and armed confrontations involving the ELN and other armed groups, particularly in western Risaralda and areas connecting the department with neighboring Chocó. These pressures add to the challenges facing rural communities and reinforce why long-term, dependable economic relationships with coffee-producing regions matter.

As RCC Missionary Coffee evolves, we may introduce coffees from other origins where our sourcing can connect excellent coffee with Christian mission work. The exact origins may change, but we will formulate and roast each version to preserve the smooth, balanced, chocolate-forward character that makes this an approachable coffee for a congregation, family, workplace, or everyday cup.
